Additional permits often required include: asbestos investigation and abatement filings if applicable, after-hours work permits for night or weekend construction in some neighborhoods, sidewalk shed or hoist permits if material staging affects the public way, place of assembly permits for spaces holding 75+ people, and FDNY filings for fire alarm work or sprinkler modifications. Some projects also require Landmarks Preservation Commission approval if the building or storefront is designated.
