As part of its NYC expansion, Othership set out to create a serene, high-performance space for breathwork and thermal therapy. A key feature of the build was the installation of two custom-built cold plunge tubs at their new ground-floor studio on Kent Avenue and North 12th Street in Williamsburg. The tubs, fabricated by Diamond Spas Co., were central to the design, but their size, weight, and material presented unique logistical challenges.
Darby was in charge of coordinating the tub delivery and installation without compromising the space or project timeline. The job required creating temporary access through the building façade and executing a rig with precision and care in a busy urban setting.
Darby managed a one-day rigging operation with two key subcontractors. Diversified Glass removed two large front-facing windows to create a clear access path, while JC Duggan handled the lift using a forklift, spreader bars, and rigging gear to guide the tubs from street level into place. Once the installation was complete, the windows were reinstalled the same day.
The operation was planned in detail, including structural review, sidewalk permitting, and coordination with building management and local authorities. Darby oversaw the process from start to finish, ensuring a safe, smooth, and efficient install that allowed the broader fit-out to continue without delay.
